Chhattisgarh’s Tribal Traditions and Ramnami Community to Shine at Bharat Parv

Raipur : Chhattisgarh’s rich tribal traditions and the unique culture of the Ramnami community will take center stage at Bharat Parv 2025, held at Delhi’s Red Fort to mark Republic Day celebrations. The state’s tableau is based on the Government of India’s theme, “Golden India: Heritage and Development,” showcasing Chhattisgarh’s diverse and vibrant cultural heritage.

At the press preview held today at the National Rangshala in Delhi, Chhattisgarh’s tableau received widespread acclaim from the national media. The tableau highlights the deep connection between life, nature, and spirituality embedded in the cultural legacy of Chhattisgarh. It beautifully portrays the state’s unique cultural identity through its local traditions, customs, and way of life.

The front section of the tableau features male and female representatives of the Ramnami community, who worship the formless Ram. Their bodies and clothing are inscribed with the words “Ram-Ram,” and they are depicted reciting verses from the Ramcharitmanas. Alongside, traditional ghunghroos (ankle bells), used during devotional singing, are displayed.

The middle section highlights tribal culture with traditional attire, ornaments, artwork, and musical instruments such as the turahi (a tribal wind instrument). The iconic salfi tree, a significant part of Bastar’s tribal life, is prominently showcased.

The rear section features a peacock motif symbolizing the beauty and vibrancy of local life. The tableau artfully captures Chhattisgarh’s cultural heritage and its deep spiritual connection to nature, presenting a mesmerizing glimpse of the state’s rich legacy.
