“Chhattisgarh CM assures stranded students in Kyrgyzstan: ‘Government of India in touch with Kyrgyz authorities.'”

“Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai spoke to students from Chhattisgarh stranded in violence-affected Kyrgyzstan over the phone. He assured them by saying, ‘No worries, the Government of India is in constant contact with the Government of Kyrgyzstan.’

During his conversation, Mr. Sai encouraged the students to take care of themselves and advised them to contact the Chhattisgarh government if they require assistance. He emphasized that both Chhattisgarh and the Government of India stand in solidarity with them during this challenging situation.

Mr. Sai conversed with Vijay, a resident student from Masturi district in Bilaspur, and Shivani, a resident student from Janjgir district, urging them to prioritize their safety. He reassured them that the Government of India is maintaining continuous communication with the Government of Kyrgyzstan.

In response to reports of tension in the area, the Chief Minister advised the students to remain cautious. Despite being confined to their hostels and provided with food and water, the students expressed concerns. Mr. Sai assured them that if any issues arise, they should promptly contact the Chhattisgarh Government. The state government, in collaboration with the Government of India, is committed to ensuring their safe return.

The situation escalated following an incident involving the harassment of Egyptian girls in Kyrgyzstan, sparking violence predominantly targeted at students from India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Approximately fifteen thousand Indian students, including about 70 from Chhattisgarh, are pursuing medical and other subjects in Kyrgyzstan.”
