Shankaracharyas Also Took a Holy Dip Before the Akharas, Appealed for Restraint Among Devotees

Maha Kumbh Nagar – The second Amrit Snan (holy bath) of the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh has concluded. In a gesture of sensitivity and devotion, following an unfortunate incident during the Mauni Amavasya Amrit Snan, the Akharas allowed devotees to complete their holy dip first before performing a symbolic ritual bath.

Akharas Demonstrate Sensitivity During Mauni Amavasya Amrit Snan

The second Amrit Snan at the banks of the sacred Triveni Sangam has been successfully completed. According to official reports, by 6 PM, millions of devotees had taken the holy dip on this auspicious occasion.

In a historic first, the saints, Naga Sadhus, and Akharas broke their long-standing tradition of being the first to take the ceremonial dip. Given the situation, they postponed their Brahma Muhurat bath and prioritized devotees’ safety and faith.

According to Mahant Ravindra Puri, President of the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, all Akharas reached a unanimous decision to allow devotees to perform the Amrit Snan first. Later, instead of their usual grand ceremonial bath, the Akhara saints performed a symbolic ritual to uphold tradition.

Shankaracharyas Also Perform Amrit Snan at Triveni Sangam

During the second Amrit Snan of the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh, three revered Shankaracharyas from prominent Peeths in India also participated in the sacred ritual. They urged devotees to maintain calm and discipline during the event.

The following Shankaracharyas took the holy dip at Triveni Sangam on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya Amrit Snan:

  • Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Vidhu Shekhar Bharati Ji of Sringeri Sharada Peeth
  • Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Sadanand Saraswati Ji of Dwarka Sharada Peeth
  • Jyotish Peethadhishwar Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati Ji

They arrived at the Triveni Sangam via motorboats and performed their holy dip with complete religious rituals, offering blessings for the welfare of the nation.
