Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign Launched; Various Programs to Run Across the State Until February 13
Jaipur – To realize the ‘Healthy Rajasthan’ vision of Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma, the Medical and Health Department has launched the “Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign” across the state. The campaign, which began on January 30, will run through February 13. It was inaugurated on Leprosy Day (Thursday). The initiative will feature various activities aimed at leprosy prevention at the district, block, and panchayat levels.
Director of Public Health, Dr. Ravi Prakash Sharma, stated that on Leprosy Day, January 30, the District Collectors across the state broadcasted messages to the public to raise awareness about leprosy. Additionally, the Sarpanch urged members of the Gram Sabha to actively work toward eliminating discrimination against people affected by leprosy. If any leprosy-free individuals attended the meeting, they were honored as special guests of the Gram Sabha. The affected individuals were also recognized by the Gram Sabha Pramukh. On this occasion, quiz programs were held to further educate the public about leprosy.
Dr. Sharma emphasized that, as part of the campaign, awareness activities will continue through February 13 at the district, block, and panchayat levels using loudspeakers, newspapers, TV, radio, posters, pamphlets, and other media. Additionally, information on leprosy will be shared during school prayer meetings and other government events. He concluded by stating that this year, efforts will be made at all levels to ensure the success of the campaign’s theme, “Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign-2025,” which is, “Let us all unite to raise awareness, dispel misconceptions, and ensure no person affected by leprosy is left behind.”
