“Mumbai BJP Minority General Secretary Urges Urgent Review of Bar and Pub Licenses for Safety”
Mumbai : In the wake of the recent tragic accident in Pune, the Mumbai BJP Minority General Secretary, Agnelo Fernandes has formally written to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Eknath Shinde, and Deputy Chief Minister Devandra. Fadnavis urging an immediate and comprehensive review of all bar and pub licenses in Mumbai.
The letter emphasizes the need for stringent regulation and oversight to ensure the safety and well-being of Mumbai’s residents and visitors. It highlights several key areas of concern, including compliance with licensing regulations, implementation of safety measures, prevention of underage drinking, addressing noise and disturbance issues, and combating driving under the influence (DUI).
“The recent incident in Pune has once again brought to light the potential dangers associated with inadequate oversight of establishments that serve alcohol. It is imperative that we take immediate action to prevent such tragedies in Mumbai,” said Agnelo Fernandes, Mumbai BJP Minority General Secretary.
The letter outlines specific actions that need to be taken, including:
– Ensuring all bars and pubs comply with the necessary licensing requirements.
– Verifying that establishments have adequate safety measures, such as emergency exits, fire safety equipment, and adherence to capacity limits.
– Implementing stricter checks to prevent the sale of alcohol to minors.
– Addressing noise and disturbances caused by late-night operations.
– Strengthening measures to prevent drunk driving incidents through mandatory breathalyzer tests and partnerships with ride-sharing services.
The Mumbai BJP Minority General Secretary calls for a transparent review process involving relevant stakeholders, including law enforcement, local authorities, public health officials, and community representatives.
“Our priority must be the safety and well-being of our citizens. By ensuring that bars and pubs operate responsibly and in compliance with all regulations, we can help prevent future tragedies and create a safer environment for everyone,” Agnelo Fernandes added.
