ST Passengers Should Pay for Tickets – Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik

Mumbai : Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik has addressed passenger complaints and the troubles faced by conductors, urging that to avoid disputes between conductors and passengers over change, ST (State Transport) has appealed to passengers to make ticket payments via UPI. This appeal has received a strong response from passengers, and the revenue from UPI payments has doubled in recent days.

Additionally, the Corporation has issued a circular directing local authorities to ensure that conductors are given up to 100 rupees in change before heading to their duties. This will help prevent disputes over small change between conductors and passengers.

The ST Corporation has provided each conductor with an Android Electronic Ticket Issuing Machine (ETIM), which allows ticket purchases via UPI payments. Minister Sarnaik suggested that passengers use UPI payments when purchasing tickets to avoid conflicts over change. Following this, the Corporation has made efforts to increase UPI payments. Over the past few days, the number of passengers using UPI payments to purchase tickets has significantly increased, with UPI payment revenue doubling compared to previous days.

Furthermore, through a circular, the Corporation has instructed local administration to ensure that conductors receive small change before leaving for duty. Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik also advised the Corporation to ensure that no disputes arise between conductors and passengers over small change in the future.
