‘Culture Kumbh’ showcases the splendor of Mahakumbh
Mahakumbh Nagar : As part of Maha Kumbh 2025, Parmarth Niketan is hosting a two-day ‘Culture Kumbh’ at Parmarth Camp, Sector 23, Arail Ghat, beginning Wednesday with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony.
Dignitaries present at the event lauded the divine aura and magnificence of Maha Kumbh, while also appreciating the exceptional cleanliness and well-organized facilities provided for pilgrims.
Principal Secretary for Urban Development, Amrit Abhijat, stated that preparations for Maha Kumbh had begun two years ago, with an estimated attendance of 40 crore people. So far, 38 crore devotees have already participated in the grand event, with around 1.25 crore taking a holy dip daily. He emphasized that efforts are being made at every level to ensure a pleasant experience for all visitors.
He highlighted that during the last Kumbh, the government had spent Rs 2,315 crore on organizing the event. In this Maha Kumbh, the Central Government has allocated Rs 7,000 crore, while the Uttar Pradesh Government has contributed Rs 7,400 crore, bringing the total investment to Rs 14,400 crore.
He further explained that 75% of this investment has been directed towards infrastructure development, ensuring long-term benefits beyond Maha Kumbh. As part of these efforts, 500 new roads and railway stations have been constructed. Sanitation facilities have also seen a significant upgrade, with toilets increasing from 65,000 in the previous Kumbh to 1 lakh this time. A workforce of 15,000 sanitation workers is deployed round the clock to maintain cleanliness throughout the fair area.
Swami Chidananda Saraswati Ji, Sadhvi Bhagwati Saraswati Ji, Minister of State for Energy Shripad Nayak, former Indian badminton player Saina Nehwal, author Shantanu Gupta, Pushkar Sharma, and columnist Shefali Vaidya were present at the event.
