Tamil Nadu DCM Udhayanidhi Stalin Allocates ₹16.70 Crore from Tamil Nadu Champions Foundation Fund for Athletes.
Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Thiru. Udhayanidhi Stalin has sanctioned financial assistance of ₹16.70 crore from the Tamil Nadu Champions Foundation Fund to support 18 athletes participating in two major international sporting events—the World Para Athletic Grand Prix 2025 in New Delhi and the Junior World Fencing Championship in Kazakhstan.
Today (07.02.2025), the Deputy Chief Minister allocated ₹10.40 crore for 16 Tamil Nadu athletes competing in the World Para Athletic Grand Prix 2025, scheduled from 08.03.2025 to 11.03.2025 in New Delhi. Each athlete will receive ₹65,000 for their expenses.
Additionally, for the Junior World Fencing Championship, organized by the Fédération Internationale d’Escrime (FIE) in Kazakhstan from 14.02.2025 to 16.02.2025, Tamil Nadu athletes Selvi Pissaisila Ngma and Thiru. M. Aravindhan will each receive ₹3.15 lakh, totaling ₹6.30 lakh in financial support. This brings the overall assistance for 18 athletes to ₹16.70 crore from the Tamil Nadu Champions Foundation Fund.
Furthermore, the Deputy Chief Minister congratulated and felicitated five Tamil Nadu athletes who participated in the Khelo India Winter Games held in Ladakh from 24.01.2025 to 27.01.2025. He also highlighted that ₹7.05 lakh was provided for the participation of 11 Tamil Nadu athletes in this competition.
The event was attended by Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Youth Welfare and Sports Development, Mr. Atulya Mishra, IAS, Secretary of Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority, Mr. S.J. Meiganathan Sarathi, IAS, senior government officials, and coaches.
