Mumbai Suburban Book Festival to be Inaugurated by Guardian Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar on February 12

Grand Event on February 12 & 13 Featuring Book Procession, Exhibition, Sale, Discussions, and Guidance Sessions

Mumbai – The Mumbai Suburban Book Festival 2024 will be inaugurated by Guardian Minister and IT Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar on February 12 at 11 AM at the District Library Officer’s Office in Mulund (West). The event will be presided over by Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, with Skill Development Minister and Co-Guardian Minister of Mumbai Suburbs, Mangal Prabhat Lodha, as the chief guest.

Book Procession (Granth Dindi)

On February 12, a book procession will be held from 9 AM to 10:30 AM, inaugurated by MLA Mihir Kotecha, with the presence of District Planning Officer Sanjay Kumar Shinde, BMC Education Officer Rajesh Kankal, Administrative Officer Kailas Chandra Arya, and Assistant Dr. Vijaykumar Jagtap.

Inauguration Ceremony

The festival will be inaugurated by Adv. Ashish Shelar on February 12 at 11 AM at the Library Office in Mulund (West). Dignitaries attending include MPs Varsha Gaikwad and Sanjay Dina Patil, MLAs Ram Kadam, Sunil Raut, Mangesh Kudalkar, Mihir Kotecha, Parag Shah, and Ashok Patil. Senior officials such as Higher Education Additional Chief Secretary B. Venugopal Reddy, Mumbai Suburban District Collector Rajendra Kshirsagar, and BMC Deputy Commissioner (Education) Dr. Prachi Jambhekar will also be present.

Discussion and Guidance Sessions

On February 12:

  • 12:30 PM – 1:15 PM: Discussion on “The First Jnanpith in Marathi” by Sahitya Akademi Award-winning writer Chandrakant Bhonjale, literary scholar Changdev Kale, and critic Dr. Anant Deshmukh.
  • 2:00 PM – 2:30 PM: Lecture on “Life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj” by Kumari Sai Vikas Khandale.
  • 2:30 PM – 3:15 PM: MPSC & UPSC Exam Guidance by MPSC Deputy Secretary Abhijit Lendwe and Professor Shriram Deshpande.
  • 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM: Lecture on “Richness of Classical Marathi Vocabulary” by Doordarshan Anchor Dipali Kelkar.

On February 13:

  • 10:00 AM – 11:15 AM: Children’s storytelling session by author Eknath Avhad.
  • 11:30 AM – 12:15 PM: Lecture on “Indian Constitution: My Pride” by constitutional expert Suresh Sawant.
  • 12:30 PM – 1:15 PM: Discussion on “Understanding Folk Arts” by Dr. Monika Thakkar.
  • 2:00 PM – 2:45 PM: Talk on “Modern Agriculture” by agriculture expert Dilip Phuke.
  • 2:45 PM – 4:15 PM: Sant Literature in Songs by Sant Dnyaneshwar Bhajan Mandal from Washim District.
  • 4:15 PM – 5:00 PM: Closing ceremony with author Ramesh Nagpure.

The Mumbai Suburban District Library Officer Sanjay Bansod and the festival coordination committee have invited book lovers and reading enthusiasts to attend the event.
