Seventh NEZCON 2024-2025 of the Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM) Northeast Chapter Held

Aizawl, Mizoram : The inaugural function of the two-day 7th Conference of the Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM) Northeast Chapter (NEZCON 2024-2025) was successfully held on February 14, 2024, at the Assembly House Annexe Conference Hall, alongside a scientific session at Aijal Club in Aizawl. The conference was followed by a General Body Meeting of the IAPSM Northeast Chapter members.

The two-day event brought together public health professionals, policymakers, researchers, and practitioners from across the Northeast region and beyond to discuss pressing public health issues and foster stronger partnerships for better health outcomes.

This year’s conference theme, “Building Public Health Partnerships in the Northeast,” underscored the importance of collaboration and collective action in addressing the unique health challenges faced by communities in the region.

The Chief Guest for the inaugural event, Dr. Eric Zomawia, Mission Director, NHM Mizoram, emphasized the significance of strengthening health systems through strategic partnerships and interdisciplinary approaches.

Renowned public health experts and speakers from India and abroad delivered keynote addresses and sessions on topics such as health research promotion, partnerships in public health, mental health, non-communicable diseases, and the impact of climate change on health and ecosystems. They shared insights on various aspects of preventive medicine and public health, focusing on sustainable solutions for the Northeast.

Beyond scientific presentations, the conference featured interactive panel discussions, poster presentations, and workshops, providing a platform for networking and knowledge exchange. These sessions aimed to foster collaborations among public health professionals for future endeavors in the region.

The conference also recognized individuals and organizations for their outstanding contributions to public health. Awards were presented to distinguished professionals, acknowledging their dedication and impact on public health improvement.
