Technology Seminar on Armament and Optronics Held at EME School, Vadodara
A two-day Technology Seminar on Armament and Optronics was successfully conducted on 13 and 14 February 2025 at EME School, Vadodara. The event brought together experts from Service Headquarters, DRDO, industry leaders, and academia to explore strategies for innovation, collaboration, and partnerships. These efforts align with India’s vision of ‘Atmanirbharta’ (self-reliance) and aim to strengthen the nation’s defence capabilities to address evolving threats effectively.
The seminar provided a unique platform for EME School to engage with technological advancements in high-calibre weapon systems, small arms, SWIR-based optronics, and spaceborne imaging sensors. These areas are crucial for sustaining and advancing futuristic defence technologies.
The event commenced with an inaugural address by Lieutenant General Neeraj Varshney, VSM, Commandant, MCEME, followed by a keynote address from Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, PVSM, AVSM, SM, GOC-in-C, ARTRAC, on 13 February 2025. On 14 February 2025, Lieutenant General Vineet Gaur, PVSM, AVSM, Director General Capability Development, delivered a plenary address, setting the tone for insightful discussions.
A total of 18 distinguished speakers from academia, industry, research organizations, and the Indian Army shared their expertise on emerging global trends in armament and optoelectronics. The seminar was live-streamed to Indian Army training establishments, aiming to inspire young officers who will lead technological transformation in modern warfare. These future leaders will play a vital role in the New Age Technology Absorption in Warfighting, shaping India’s military advancements in this ‘Decade of Transformation’ and contributing to Viksit Bharat-2047.
The seminar concluded on an optimistic note, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in research, technology absorption, and the sustainability of armament and optronics systems. It emphasized India’s commitment to technological self-reliance and the ongoing transformation within the Indian Armed Forces.
