Environment Minister Pankaja Munde Visits Tripura; Attends Bamboo Handicraft Exhibition
Mumbai : Considering Maharashtra’s climatic and geographical conditions, the Bamboo Mission will be effectively implemented in the state by integrating scientific approaches, stated Minister for Environment, Climate Change, and Animal Husbandry Pankaja Munde.
Minister Pankaja Munde is currently on a visit to Tripura, accompanied by Minister of State Madhuri Misal and Principal Secretary of the Environment Department Vinita Singhal.
During her visit to the Bamboo Plantation Exhibition in Agartala, Minister Munde praised the craftsmanship of women artisans and inspected various species of bamboo cultivation.
Tripura’s bamboo handicrafts are regarded as one of the finest in the country. The state is also a major supplier of bamboo sticks for the incense stick industry across India. To promote the integrated development of the bamboo sector, the Tripura Bamboo Mission (TBM) was launched in 2007 under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework.
The bamboo handicrafts of Tripura are known for their artistic appeal, innovative designs, and diverse product range. After reviewing the exhibition and examining different bamboo species and handicrafts, Minister Munde announced that a Bamboo Mission will be implemented in Maharashtra in alignment with its climate and geographical conditions.
On her arrival at Agartala Airport, Minister Munde was welcomed by senior government officials and dignitaries.
