₹15,000 Crore Allocated for Pending Payments in Roads & Buildings Sector
Mumbai : The Public Works Department (PWD) has so far allocated ₹15,091 crore in the 2024-25 financial year to clear pending dues in the roads and buildings sector. Additionally, in February 2025, a total of ₹683.72 crore has been disbursed for various components, according to an official statement from the department.
A meeting chaired by Public Works Minister Shivendrasinhraje Bhosale was recently held to address pending payments. As per the instructions given during the meeting, the department has initiated necessary actions. The allocation of unutilized budget provisions for various PWD schemes is progressing steadily.
Implementation of TReDS for Faster Payments
To streamline pending payments, the government has decided to implement the Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS). A proposal regarding this has been submitted to the Finance Department, and the process is currently underway.
Funds for Government Building Maintenance
- Over ₹64 crore has been allocated in February 2025 for the maintenance of government offices and ministerial residences.
- An additional ₹18 crore is in the process of being disbursed for related works.
The state government is exploring funding options for pending payments within the remaining period of the financial year, ensuring smooth allocation and clearance of dues, the PWD department confirmed.
