ICAR-CIFRI Empowered youth on Science Day for Global Leadership in Science & Innovation
National Science Day is celebrated in India on every 28th. February commemorating the discovery of the Raman Effect by Indian physicist Sir C. V. Raman on 28th. February, 1928. It was this discovery, for which Sir C.V. Raman was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in the year 1930.
On National Science Day, ICAR-CIFRI (Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute) organised an engaging event that saw enthusiastic participation from Army Public school students. The event was held at the CIFRI campus in Barrackpore, West Bengal, and aimed to foster scientific curiosity and awareness among young minds.
The highlight of the day was the distribution of ornamental fishes to the students. ICAR-CIFRI provided various species of ornamental fish to the participants. This initiative was part of their ongoing efforts to promote ornamental fish culture and breeding among the youth.
The event featured a series of activities, including science exhibitions, interactive sessions and quizzes, all designed to ignite a passion for science and innovation, and the Students had the opportunity to participate in an interactive session with eminent Scientists of the Institute Dr. Archana Sinha, Dr. Aparna Roy and Dr. Suman Kumari
Dr. B.K. Das, Director of ICAR-CIFRI, addressed the gathering and emphasised the importance of scientific inquiry and innovation in shaping the future, while encouraging the students to explore the world of science and contribute to its advancement. The program, National Science Day conceived by Dr. B.K. Das, Director of ICAR-CIFRI, was a resounding success, catapulting the inspirations & motivations of the participating students in pursuing their quest for science.
