Mumbai : Under the Prime Minister’s Gati Shakti initiative, the 89th meeting of the Network Planning Group (NPG) approved the expansion and efficiency enhancement of the third and fourth railway tracks on the Badlapur-Karjat route. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed his gratitude to the Central Government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this significant decision.
This 32.460 km-long brownfield project aims to reduce delays caused by increasing passenger and freight traffic on the Mumbai-Pune-Solapur-Wadi-Chennai corridor. It is also expected to improve connectivity for key locations such as Badlapur, Vangani, Shelu, Neral, Bhivpuri, and Karjat, benefiting both passengers and freight transport.
Aligned with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan (PMGS-NMP), this infrastructure project will enhance interconnectivity, operational efficiency, and significantly boost local economic development.
