Every citizen in Uttar Pradesh feels safe now: Chief Minister

Gorakhpur : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Tuesday, emphasized that over the past eight years, the state government has successfully created an environment of security, leading to a sense of safety for every individual in Uttar Pradesh.

He stated, “While the previous governments fostered ‘one district, one mafia,’ today the government has introduced ‘one district, one medical college’ and ‘one district, one product.’ This has led to the creation of new jobs, the revival of MSMEs, and ushered in a new era of investment in Uttar Pradesh.”

CM Yogi shared these thoughts with the media after attending a special program in Gorakhpur, marking eight years of the state government’s journey in service, security, and good governance.

He highlighted that the transformation underway in Uttar Pradesh was part of a larger resolution made in 2017, where the BJP promised to provide security and respect for all. “We pledged that every village, every poor person, every farmer, youth, and the needy would benefit from the government’s schemes without discrimination. The government has fulfilled these promises, ensuring that everyone has access to development and public welfare initiatives, with a focus on security and respect,” he said.

The Chief Minister also noted the extensive road network laid across the state. “Uttar Pradesh is now number one in the country for having the most expressways. An excellent highway network has been developed, and interstate connectivity has improved. Our links to states like Nepal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi are now much stronger,” he added.

CM Yogi highlighted the government’s work in connecting district headquarters with four-lane roads and tehsil headquarters with similar connectivity. Plans are also in place to ensure that development block headquarters are connected with two-lane and four-lane roads.

He pointed out that Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a leader in infrastructure development, with the most expressways, metro networks, railways, and public facilities in the country.

On the security front, CM Yogi spoke about police reforms. He mentioned the establishment of seven police commissionerates, with senior officers like ADGs and IGs appointed to various levels across the state. This was complemented by significant improvements in infrastructure at the district level.

“So far, more than 2.12 lakh police personnel have been recruited, with 1.56 lakh already in service. Recently, the recruitment of over 60,000 additional personnel has been completed,” he stated.

The Chief Minister also emphasized the substantial increase in training capacity for police personnel. “When we came into power in 2017, only 6,000 policemen could be trained annually. Now, with more than 60,000 new recruits, we have increased training capacity ten times,” he said.

He also noted that previously, police personnel had no dedicated accommodations, and barracks were non-existent. “Today, we are building high-rise buildings for police personnel in every district. One such building has already been constructed in Gorakhpur,” CM Yogi said.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the previous government had closed the PAC companies, which were crucial in controlling riots and ensuring law and order. “Today, we have restored all these companies, along with implementing reforms. Additionally, six companies of SSF and SDRF were formed,” he said.

He also mentioned that for the first time, a hydraulic tender system has been introduced in the Uttar Pradesh Fire Service to handle fire emergencies. Furthermore, a forensic lab and a forensic institute have been established in the state.

The Chief Minister pointed out that the response time for PRV-112 was over 25 minutes earlier, but now, the service can be accessed anywhere in just 7 minutes. Similarly, the response time for the 108 ambulance service used to exceed 25 minutes, but today, it operates within 7 to 12 minutes.

CM Yogi also discussed the transformation of Gorakhpur, noting that the double-engine government has significantly advanced the city’s development in the past eight years. “The difference between Gorakhpur before 2017 and after 2017 is clear to everyone. This change is not only visible in Gorakhpur but will also be seen in Ayodhya, Lucknow, Kashi, Mirzapur, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Agra, Jhansi, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Saharanpur, Bareilly, Moradabad—everywhere,” he stated.

He remarked that before 2017, cities like Gorakhpur were considered among the dirtiest and most disorganized in the country. “Today, 17 cities in Uttar Pradesh have become smart cities, recognized for their cleanliness, safety, and improved public facilities. CCTV cameras have been installed in these cities, and the process of connecting all municipal bodies to district headquarters is underway,” the CM added.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath concluded by stating that Gorakhpur is becoming a model city in the new Uttar Pradesh and New India. “Gorakhpur’s connectivity has greatly improved. Now, everyone in Gorakhpur receives uninterrupted electricity, and there is no discrimination. More than one lakh poor people in Gorakhpur have benefited from the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Vantangiya village has been recognized as a revenue village, and every eligible person in Gorakhpur is receiving the benefits of government schemes without any discrimination,” he said.
