“Union Cabinet Approves Construction of Agrajan Port in Palghar District”
Mumbai, 20th: Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has approved the construction of a port at Pagaran in Palghar district, marking a significant development for the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister of Ports Development Sanjay Bansode expressed gratitude to the Union Cabinet for this decision.
Once completed, Agrajan Port will become one of the ten largest ports globally and the largest in India. This project is expected to drive economic growth in the state, generating extensive direct and indirect employment opportunities. Minister Bansode anticipates approximately 1.2 million jobs will be created as a result.
Efforts will be made to adequately compensate and rehabilitate local residents, fishermen, and other stakeholders affected by the expansion. Additionally, the state government plans to implement skill development programs to create new employment opportunities, as stated by Minister Bansode.
The expansion project will be a collaboration between the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) and the Maharashtra Maritime Board, with an estimated cost of Rs. 76,200 crores. The central and state governments will share 74% and 26% of the project cost, respectively. Minister Bansode affirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the successful completion of the port project.
