All the elderly will get regular medical treatment and the benefit of Ayushman Bharat

Lucknow : As part of its dedication to ensuring a dignified and secure life for senior citizens, the Yogi government is providing free accommodation, meals, medical care, and entertainment for them in all old age homes across Uttar Pradesh. Now, the government is set to enhance these facilities even further in all the 75 districts.

Under Ayushman Bharat, elderly residents will receive top-tier healthcare, while a new initiative will leverage their professional and business experience, offering financial incentives in return. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath believes this will promote self-reliance and enrich their lives.

Each old age home under the government’s care accommodates up to 150 residents and collaborates with NGOs under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. This approach has proven effective in improving the quality of life for elderly citizens who have been separated from their families or lack caregivers.

A face-recognition attendance system has been implemented to ensure transparency and that every beneficiary receives the services they are entitled to. Additionally, elderly residents are provided with old-age pensions to support their financial independence. The government has also introduced religious pilgrimage trips, offering mental peace and spiritual fulfillment to the elderly.

In a notable effort, during the recent Mahakumbh, the government facilitated the participation of over 1,500 elderly citizens by accommodating them in temporary old age homes at the event site. A medical camp was organised for them through Shravan Kumbh, and they were medically checked.

Recognizing the legal and family disputes many senior citizens face, the Yogi government has appointed 216 reconciliation officers at the tehsil level to address grievances and provide justice. Moreover, an implementation committee led by the District Magistrate has been formed in each district to oversee the efficient management of old-age homes and ensure continuous service improvements.

With these initiatives, the Yogi government continues prioritising senior citizens’ welfare, creating a secure and dignified environment for them in their later years.
