“Social Equality Week” to Be Celebrated with Various Initiatives – Assistant Commissioner Prasad Khairnar

Mumbai, April 8: In celebration of the 134th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, “Social Equality Week” will be observed from April 8 to 14, 2025. A range of activities and programs will be organized during this period. Assistant Commissioner of the Department of Social Welfare, Prasad Khairnar, has appealed to people from all communities to actively participate in these initiatives.

As part of this week, government-run hostels, schools for the differently-abled, and all offices under the Social Welfare Department across districts will organize lectures, blood donation camps, workshops, awareness programs, and gatherings for senior citizens and women.

Activities Scheduled During Social Equality Week:

➡️ April 9, 2025:
Schools, colleges, and government hostels will host elocution competitions, essay writing contests, and short play performances based on the thoughts and teachings of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.

➡️ April 10, 2025:
In Mumbai City district, awareness campaigns will be conducted through street plays and skits to inform the public about various schemes of the Department of Social Justice.

➡️ April 11, 2025:
The birth anniversary of social reformer Mahatma Jyotirao Phule will be celebrated.

➡️ April 12, 2025:
A special lecture on “Constitution Awareness” will be organized to provide general information about the Indian Constitution, its framing, the Constituent Assembly, key articles, and a focus on Fundamental Rights and Duties.

➡️ April 13, 2025:
Awareness camps and meetups for senior citizens will be conducted in each district. Blood donation camps will also be organized in collaboration with District Health Officers at schools, colleges, and government hostels. Additionally, cleanliness drives will be carried out at important locations and Scheduled Caste and Neo-Buddhist localities with the help of voluntary organizations.

➡️ April 14, 2025:
Tributes will be paid to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar at all government offices, schools, and colleges under the Department of Social Justice and Special Assistance. The day will feature speeches, discussions, and various commemorative programs. On this day, online caste verification certificates will also be issued at all District Caste Verification Committee offices.
