More than 90 candidates from Maharashtra successful

New Delhi : The final result of the Civil Services Examination 2024 conducted by the Union Public Service Commission has been announced. A total of 1009 candidates across the country have been successful. Among them, more than 90 candidates from the state have achieved outstanding success. Archit Parag Dongre has secured the first rank from the state and third rank in the country. Shivansh Subhash Jagdale has secured the 26th All India Rank. There are 7 candidates from the state among the top 100.

UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024

To fill vacancies in various Central Government services, the main exam was conducted in September 2024. Interviews of candidates who passed the exam were held between January – April 2025. A total of 1009 candidates who passed the examination have been recommended by UPSC for appointment to posts in various services.

The distribution among categories is:

  • General – 335
  • Economically Weaker Section (EWS) – 109
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC) – 318
  • Scheduled Castes (SC) – 160
  • Scheduled Tribes (ST) – 87

Out of the total successful candidates, 725 are men and 284 are women.

A total of 50 differently-abled candidates are among the successful ones. UPSC has also prepared a Reserve List of 230 candidates, consisting of:

  • General – 115

  • ST – 6

A total of 241 candidates’ selection is provisional. The official result and names of successful candidates are available on the UPSC website www.upsc.gov.in.

This year, Maharashtra’s Mr. Archit Parag Dongre (Roll No. 0867282), who graduated in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from VIT Vellore, secured the third rank nationwide, choosing Philosophy as his optional subject in the UPSC exam.

Among the top 25 candidates, there are 11 women and 14 men. Their academic qualifications range across engineering, science, commerce, medical science, and architecture, from top institutions such as IITs, NITs, VIT, JNU, Delhi University, and Allahabad University.

These top 25 candidates selected optional subjects like Anthropology, Commerce and Accountancy, Geography, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science and International Relations, Public Administration, Sociology, and Tamil Literature in the main (written) examination.
