Two Prestigious Educational Institutions of the State to Collaborate in Education, Research, and Technological Development
Five-Year Agreement Signed Between Indira Gandhi Agricultural University and IIT Bhilai
Raipur : A five-year agreement has been signed between Indira Gandhi Agricultural University and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bhilai, to jointly work in the fields of education, research, and technological development. This collaboration aims to facilitate student training, high-quality postgraduate research, faculty research, and the implementation of joint projects in research and technology development. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Dr. Girish Chandel, Vice-Chancellor of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, and Dr. Rajeev Prakash, Director of IIT Bhilai.
This agreement between the state’s two premier educational institutions is expected to provide a new direction for research, innovation, and technology development in Chhattisgarh. On this occasion, another MoU was also signed between IIT Bhilai and the Chhattisgarh Biotech Promotion Society to support collaboration in startup incubation and technology development.
As per the MoU between Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Raipur, and IIT Bhilai, both institutions will recognize each other’s research programs for students enrolled in postgraduate and research courses. The two sides will also engage in joint collaborative research focusing on challenging scientific problems, enabling identification of issues, exchange of biological materials, and the conduct of research activities. They will also have access to each other’s research and library facilities.
There will be student exchange programs for academic research and training, and students will be able to avail hostel facilities at both institutions. Both institutions will share information, scientific or technical data, technologies, and other resources. The agreement also provides for faculty members from both institutions to undertake research and collaborative projects at each other’s campuses.
The MoU signing ceremony at Indira Gandhi Agricultural University was attended by Dr. G.K. Das, Dean of the College of Agriculture, Raipur; Dr. Vinay Pandey, Dean of the College of Agricultural Engineering, Raipur; Dr. A.K. Dave, Dean of the College of Food Technology; Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Dean of Student Welfare; Dr. S.S. Tuteja, Director of Extension; Dr. Rajendra Lakpale, Director of Fields and Seeds; along with several professors and scientists from both Indira Gandhi Agricultural University and IIT Bhilai.
