DCM Arun Sao Conducts Surprise Inspection of Raipur–Visakhapatnam Expressway Works
Reviews Progress of Under-Construction Overbridge and Road; Inspects Materials and Construction Quality
Raipur : Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Minister Shri Arun Sao conducted a surprise inspection of the ongoing Raipur–Visakhapatnam Expressway works today while en route from Raipur to Kanker. At Abhanpur, he reviewed the progress of the overbridge construction and examined both the materials used and the quality of construction. Interacting with departmental and construction agency officials, he stressed the importance of adhering to high standards and completing the project within the stipulated time frame.
Following the inspection at the Abhanpur overbridge site, Mr. Sao visited Bhelwadih village to assess the road construction work of the expressway. He instructed the officials to strictly comply with all quality parameters and road safety norms. The officials present assured him that all standards were being followed meticulously.
A Strategic Project Linking Raipur to Visakhapatnam Port
The 464-kilometer-long six-lane expressway will connect Raipur to Visakhapatnam via Dhamtari, Kanker, Kondagaon, Koraput, and Sabbavaram. Being developed under the Bharatmala Project, a major portion of the expressway has already been completed. During the inspection, Mr. V.K. Bhatpahari, Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department, along with officials from the Bharatmala Project, PWD, and the executing agency, accompanied the Deputy Chief Minister.
After reviewing the Bharatmala Project works in Chhattisgarh, Mr. Sao remarked that this is a highly ambitious initiative by the Government of India and will significantly benefit the people of Chhattisgarh. Once completed, the expressway will reduce the travel distance between Raipur and Visakhapatnam and enhance connectivity to the Visakhapatnam port. He emphasized that this project is of strategic importance to the state and will serve as an economic corridor, playing a vital role in the growth of both Chhattisgarh and the nation.
