Assam Rifles Land Advisory Committee Meeting Held

A meeting of the Assam Rifles Land Advisory Committee was held today at the Chief Minister’s Conference Hall, chaired by Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma.

As this was the first meeting of the Committee, an introductory session for the members was held. Pu Vanlaldina Fanai, Commissioner, GAD, gave a presentation on the procedures for the transfer of Assam Rifles land. He mentioned that approximately Rs. 5 crore is likely to be provided based on the depreciated cost of buildings. Er. Lalhriatpuia, Deputy Commissioner of Aizawl, also submitted his report on the joint verification conducted at Zokhawsang and Lammual.

The Committee advised that all individuals, organizations, and churches currently occupying Assam Rifles land must formally submit their land claims to the government. It was also suggested that those currently engaged in legal proceedings regarding the land should consider withdrawing their cases to enable government action. The members emphasized, in a spirit of consensus, that land vacated by Assam Rifles should not fall into the hands of individuals, political parties, NGOs, or churches without proper authorization.

The Committee further reviewed the Master Plan prepared by the UD&PA Department, and discussions were held on reviewing and updating it as necessary.

The Advisory Committee has been constituted under Section 6 of the Mizoram (Restriction on Use of Transferred Land) Act, 2002. The Chief Minister serves as Chairman, and the Home Minister as Vice Chairman. The Committee comprises 16 official members and 14 invited members representing important organizations and stakeholders.
