Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal Conducts Surprise Inspection of Under-Construction Medical College in Mahasamund

Raipur : Chhattisgarh’s Health Minister, Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, today conducted a surprise inspection of the newly under-construction Government Medical College in Mahasamund district. During the visit, he reviewed the progress and quality of the construction work on the new college building. Principal Secretary of the Health Department, Shri Amit Kataria, and Commissioner of Medical Education, Smt. Shikha Rajput, were also present on the occasion.

During the inspection, Health Minister Jaiswal issued clear directives to expedite the construction and maintain quality standards. He instructed that all civil work must be completed by December 2025. He further directed that penalty charges be imposed as per rules if the work is not completed within the stipulated time frame. He warned the construction agency that no negligence will be tolerated in building a crucial facility like a medical college.

Officials briefed the minister on the current status of the project, progress achieved, future plans, and the projected timeline for completion. The minister urged the officials’ team to ensure that all construction work is completed within the deadline.

It is worth noting that the new Government Medical College under construction in Mahasamund is being developed over 89.19 acres at an approved cost of ₹325 crore. The college has been sanctioned for 125 MBBS seats. The construction of the college building is scheduled to be completed by December 2025.
