Dr. Kirori Lal Meena’s Crackdown on Fake Fertilizer Units Continues for Second Day; Raids in Kishangarh Uncover Large-Scale Counterfeit Production

Jaipur : Rajasthan Agriculture Minister Dr. Kirori Lal Meena continued his firm action against the fake fertilizer mafia for the second consecutive day. On Friday, he led raids on multiple factories located in the areas of Dindwara, Udaipurkala, Tilonia, Nalu, and Bandarsindri in Kishangarh, Ajmer district.

During these inspections, it was discovered that counterfeit fertilizers such as DAP, SSP, and Potash were being manufactured by mixing marble dust and soil. In several illegal factory setups in farms and warehouses, thousands of empty branded sacks and labels were found. These fake fertilizers were being packaged under the names of well-known companies and prepared for sale to farmers in villages.

The Agriculture Minister stated that the state government is making every effort to provide high-quality fertilizers and seeds to farmers. To curb black marketing, hoarding, and the production of fake fertilizers, the Agriculture Department conducts regular quality control drives.

Ajmer district has 21 registered manufacturing units producing PROM, bio-fertilizers, and Potash Derived from Molasses (PDM), of which 8 are based in Kishangarh.

Following the Minister’s directives, inspections were carried out on Thursday and Friday at both licensed and unlicensed units in Udaipurkalan, Tilonia, Nalu, and other villages. At Atisha Biotech near Churli, although they held a license to manufacture PROM and PDM, they were found producing substandard Sagarika fertilizers without a valid license. Due to non-disclosure of key ingredients used in the manufacturing process, 631.47 metric tons of PROM, PDM, and Sagarika were seized and 4 samples collected.

Similarly, Tropical Agro System, though licensed, failed to provide accurate information regarding the components used in production. As a result, 246.01 metric tons of PROM and other materials were seized, and 2 samples taken.

Divya Agro Fertilizer Industries, also holding a license, was found producing substandard Sagarika fertilizers without authorization. Due to discrepancies in ingredient disclosure, 879.85 metric tons of PROM, PDM, and Sagarika were seized.

At Bhumi Agro Industries in Udaipurkalan, which is licensed to produce bio-fertilizers, 1,750 metric tons of raw materials including gypsum were seized due to illegal manufacturing. Similarly, M/s Gordhan Agro, Udaipurkalan, licensed for PROM, was found using unauthorized materials and 77.50 metric tons of gypsum and related ingredients were confiscated.

In Tikawda, three factories were sealed on suspicion of storing raw materials for PROM and PDM. Further legal action is underway. On Friday, action was ongoing at M/s Green Agro Industries and Radhika Agro Industries in Bandarsindri.

On Thursday, under Section 28(1)(D) of the Fertilizer Control Order, 1985, eight units were sealed, and action continued at two licensed units on Friday. State and local officials seized approximately 2,798.04 metric tons of various fertilizers under the provisions of the Fertilizer Control Order, 1985, and collected statutory samples for analysis. Inspections of remaining units in the region are ongoing.

District officials have also been directed to carry out intensive inspections of the remaining 277 units across other districts. Since April 1, 2025, a total of 1,464 fertilizer samples have been collected across the state, of which 136 were found to be substandard. Necessary actions are being taken as per the Fertilizer Control Order, 1985.

The pre-Kharif season intensive quality control campaign, running from 15 May to 10 July 2025, involves inspection of seller and manufacturer premises, sample collection, and legal action in cases of irregularities.
