Two-Day Visit of National Commission for Women Member Mamta Kumari to Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Significant Initiatives Undertaken for Women’s Protection and Empowerment

Raipur : Mrs. Mamta Kumari, Hon’ble Member of the National Commission for Women (NCW), New Delhi, was on a two-day visit to Chhattisgarh, where she actively participated in several programs focused on women’s rights, safety, and empowerment. During her visit, she not only raised awareness among the public but also conducted administrative reviews of relevant institutions and programs.

At Red Cross Bhawan in Raipur, Mrs. Kumari conducted a public hearing on complaints related to women’s harassment. She then participated in a workshop organized at Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, where she addressed critical topics such as prevention of sexual harassment at the workplace and cyber safety. Interacting with faculty and students, she encouraged the youth to remain aware and empowered.

As part of her itinerary, she inspected the Government Senior Citizen Home in Mana, evaluating the quality of facilities provided there. She also visited the Women’s Cell of Central Jail Raipur, where she interacted with female inmates and emphasized the importance of mental and social rehabilitation programs.

Mrs. Kumari further visited the Nari Niketan and Sakhi One-Stop Centre, both operated under the Department of Women and Child Development. She issued necessary directives to officials regarding the education, safety, and holistic development of the girls residing there.

At Naveen Circuit House, Atal Nagar, New Raipur, she chaired a review meeting with officials from various departments, where she assessed the progress of women’s welfare initiatives. She urged officials to work with greater sensitivity and promptness in delivering welfare services.

Accompanying her during the visit were State Women Commission members Mrs. Lakshmi Verma, Mrs. Sarla Kosaria, Mrs. Ojaswi Mandavi, Ms. Deepika Shori, and Mrs. Pushpa Kiran Kujur, along with the Assistant Director of the State Women Commission and several officials and staff from the Women and Child Development Department.
