Reviews Pre-Monsoon Preparedness in the District
Gadchiroli : Maharashtra Chief Minister and Guardian Minister of Gadchiroli, Devendra Fadnavis, emphasized that Gadchiroli district remains a top priority on his development agenda, and instructed all government departments to treat it similarly in their own planning and execution. He was speaking during a pre-monsoon review meeting held at the District Planning Bhavan in Gadchiroli.
The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Finance and Planning Ashish Jaiswal, Additional Chief Secretary Milind Mhaiskar, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Naresh Zurmure, CCF Jitendra Ramgaonkar, MP Namdev Kirsan, MLAs Dharmaraobaba Atram, Dr. Milind Narote, and Ramdas Masram, along with senior officials from the Mantralaya through video conferencing.
CM Fadnavis stated that a coordination mechanism between the district and state levels is in place to prevent flood situations in Gadchiroli. He stressed the need for special attention to water inflows from Madhya Pradesh, as they pose potential risks.
He directed the District Collector to ensure adequate food grains, medicines, and relocation arrangements for pregnant women in villages that become inaccessible during the monsoon. He further urged that at least two out of five approved phases of permanent connectivity projects for such villages should be completed this year.
Speaking on infrastructure, the Chief Minister emphasized coordination among the Forest Department, Public Works Department, National Highways Authority, and other related departments for road construction in forest areas. He said there should be no restrictions on roads other than those passing through tiger corridors, and warned forest officials against misconduct, promising strict action in case of arbitrariness. He directed that key road and bridge projects be fast-tracked.
While reviewing the Wadsa-Gadchiroli railway land acquisition, the CM noted delays and ordered completion of the process within a set timeframe.
He assured that all necessary budgetary provisions and pending proposals for the district’s progress would be pursued diligently, and asked the Minister of State to follow up.
CM Fadnavis said he intentionally took charge as Guardian Minister of Gadchiroli to directly address the region’s issues. “All issues raised by public representatives have been noted and policy decisions will be taken accordingly,” he affirmed.
On this occasion, CM Fadnavis also released a documentary on Shri Kshetra Markanda, a significant religious tourism site. MoUs were signed between the district administration and various industries, entrepreneurs, and NGOs for Gadchiroli’s development in the presence of the Chief Minister.
District Collector Avishant Panda gave a presentation during the meeting. The program was compered by Resident Deputy Collector Sunil Suryawanshi, and Additional Collector Nitin Gawande proposed the vote of thanks.
