Mumbai : In light of the heavy rains occurring throughout the state, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed all district-level agencies to remain alert and prepared.
Heavy rains have been ongoing in the state for the past few days. To review the situation, the Chief Minister visited the control room at the Secretariat. On this occasion, School Education Minister and Guardian Minister of Mumbai City, Deepak Kesarkar, Skill Development Minister and Guardian Minister of Mumbai Suburban District, Mangalprabhat Lodha, Relief and Rehabilitation Minister, Anil Patil, Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. I.S. Chahal, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Vikas Kharge, and Principal Secretary of the Relief and Rehabilitation Department Sonia Sethi were present.
Chief Minister Shinde stated that rain is continuing in the state as well as in Mumbai. Due to the heavy and continuous rainfall, problems have arisen in some places across the state. To address these issues, district-level teams are working together. This rain has affected Mumbai’s local train services. Instructions have been given to provide BEST bus services and ST services to passengers stranded in local trains.
Necessary measures have been taken by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation to drain water from areas where waterlogging occurs in the city. As a safety precaution due to the rain, schools have been given a holiday. In light of the Orange Alert declared for the Konkan coastline, the Chief Minister has appealed to citizens not to venture out unless absolutely necessary.
