UPSIDA successfully organizes pharma roadshow in Ahmedabad

Lucknow : Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is rapidly emerging as the most attractive destination for pharmaceutical investments in India. Taking this vision forward, the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) successfully organized a grand roadshow in Ahmedabad on Friday, focused on the theme “Investment Opportunities in the Pharmaceutical Sector in Uttar Pradesh.”

The key objective of the event was to showcase Uttar Pradesh’s growing potential as a pharma manufacturing hub and to invite Gujarat’s leading pharma industrialists to become stakeholders in the state’s journey toward building a $1 trillion economy. The roadshow witnessed participation from several major players in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries, culminating in the signing of multiple significant Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).

Notably, UPSIDA is developing a Bulk Drug Pharma Park in Lalitpur over an area of 1,472.33 acres, with an initial proposed investment of Rs 250 crore. The project is expected to attract a total investment of around Rs 12,000 crore and generate nearly 14,000 direct and indirect jobs. This park is seen as a major step toward making India the “Pharmacy of the World.”

UPSIDA CEO Mayur Maheshwari said, “With investor-friendly policies and advanced infrastructure, Uttar Pradesh is becoming an ideal hub for the pharmaceutical industry.” Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s advisor Dr. G.N. Singh added during the roadshow, “The Yogi government has introduced several policy reforms to strengthen the pharma sector, making Uttar Pradesh the most suitable state for investors.”

During the road show, many leading pharma companies signed investment agreements for investment in Uttar Pradesh. CSL Lifesciences Pvt. Ltd. proposed to set up an IV bottle and OSD plant with an investment of Rs 200 crore, expected to create over 250 jobs. Medihealth Diagnostic Pvt. Ltd. announced plans to establish a healthcare unit on 4,200 sq. meters of land in Lalitpur. Gaman Irradiation committed Rs 35 crore to set up a skin treatment and irradiation unit, creating 150 jobs. Obamed Pharma also signed the deal to set up a formulation unit with a Rs 200 crore investment, providing jobs for 100 people.

Through UPSIDA’s single-window system, investors are getting quick approvals, land allotment, and world-class infrastructure. A short film shown at the roadshow highlighted the state’s rapid industrial growth and investor-friendly environment. The event also included B2G (Business-to-Government) meetings where industry leaders and government officials discussed investment-related matters in detail. Shalby Limited Chairman Shanay Shah praised the efforts of UPSIDA and CII and said that this cooperation is important for sustainable economic development.
