Eastern Railways Malda Division surge ahead in Human Well-Being.
On the occasion of World Food Safety Day 2025, a Food Safety Awareness Programme was organised at Malda Town station, aimed at sensitising food handlers to ensure safe and hygienic food service for passengers. The session was conducted by Mr. Ajoy Gope, Food Safety Officer, Malda Division, under the guidance of the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Divisional Railway Hospital, Malda. An interactive awareness session was held with food handlers from the Food Plaza and Refreshment Room at the station.

During the session, Mr. Gope explained proper food handling procedures and highlighted the potential sources of contamination affecting food and water. Emphasis was laid on maintaining separate preparation areas for vegetarian and non-vegetarian food, and on adopting minimal touch techniques while selling pre-packed food items. The importance of using protective gear such as caps, masks, and disposable gloves was stressed. The discussion also covered topics such as prevention of water-borne diseases, use of anti-helminthic medicines in consultation with railway doctors, regular nail trimming, and refraining from handling food while suffering from any contagious illness.
Strengthening the approaches towards consolidating the Well-Being, a vital initiative in strengthening emergency response capabilities among security personnel, a comprehensive hands-on training programme on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) was conducted at the RPF Training School, Malda recently. The programme was organised by the Department of Health & Family Welfare (H&FW), Divisional Railway Hospital (DRH), Malda, under the supervision of Dr. Surajit Bhattacharya, Additional Chief Medical Superintendent / IC / H&FW.
The training was led by Dr. B.S. Mohanta, Divisional Medical Officer (Anaesthesia), who demonstrated each step of the CPR procedure using a mannequin, providing real-time, hands-on guidance to the participants. The session covered essential life-saving protocols such as the correct technique and frequency of chest compressions, the timing and use of the Ambu bag, the ideal number of responders required during a CPR event, and key indicators to identify when CPR is necessary. A total of 22 RPF personnel participated in the training, gaining critical knowledge and practical skills that could prove decisive in saving lives during medical emergencies, particularly in the line of duty where immediate medical intervention is often required.
