Tarique Rahman to Meet Chief Adviser Yunus in London on June 13: Mirza Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced today that Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, currently visiting the United Kingdom, is set to meet BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman in London on June 13.

Speaking to journalists at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan, Fakhrul said the meeting is scheduled to take place between 9:00am and 11:00am (London time) at the hotel where Dr. Yunus is staying. “The Chief Adviser has invited our acting chairman. The meeting will be held at the hotel where Yunus is staying,” he confirmed.

Responding to a question, Fakhrul mentioned that discussions around this meeting had begun after Yunus decided to travel to London. “This was discussed at the standing committee meeting last night. Dr. Yunus has formally invited our acting chairman for the meeting, and the committee has welcomed the initiative,” he said.

He also informed that the standing committee has empowered Tarique Rahman to make decisions on any matter arising from this meeting. Fakhrul expressed optimism that the dialogue could mark a pivotal moment in the country’s political scenario.

“We hope this meeting will help resolve the ongoing political crisis in Bangladesh. Personally, I believe it could be a turning point in our national politics,” he stated.

Describing the upcoming meeting as a “major political event”, Fakhrul added, “Many unresolved issues could be addressed, new perspectives may emerge, and fresh possibilities can be created through this discussion.”
