Yogi govt launches moong procurement in 75 and groundnut in 15 districts at MSP

Lucknow : On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government has begun preparations to procure moong and groundnut at Minimum Support Price (MSP) during the Zaid season to boost farmers’ income. Moong will be procured in all 75 districts, while groundnut procurement will take place in 15 districts, benefiting lakhs of farmers. The government will continue purchasing moong until September 2 and groundnut until August 29. The MSP has been set at Rs 8,682 per quintal for moong and Rs 6,783 per quintal for groundnut.

The Uttar Pradesh government has set a procurement target of 34,720 metric tonnes of moong and 50,750 metric tonnes of groundnut for the Zaid season. Farmers will receive MSP benefits by bringing their produce to designated purchase centres.

NAFED and NCCF have been tasked with procurement, with support from state agencies UPPCU, UPPCF, and UPSS. NAFED will procure 24,304 MT of moong and 35,525 MT of groundnut, while NCCF will handle 10,416 MT of moong and 15,225 MT of groundnut.

The Yogi government has assigned the responsibility to NAFED and NCCF by determining district-wise purchase centers for the purchase of moong and peanuts. Clear guidelines have also been issued to ensure that farmers do not face any inconvenience.

NAFED Uttar Pradesh state head Rohit Jaiman said that under the leadership of Managing Director Deepak Agarwal, work is being done on a war footing to increase the income of farmers. This campaign will encourage farmers and strengthen their financial condition.
