Chief Minister Attends Valedictory of CSR Capacity Building Programme Organised by Mizoram CSR Cell & CII
Aizawl : The valedictory function of the three-day Capacity Building Workshop for NGOs and Implementing Agencies, jointly organised by the Mizoram CSR Cell and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), was held today at the I&PR Conference Hall, Aizawl. Hon’ble Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
In his address, the Chief Minister highlighted that despite numerous companies in India being legally mandated to undertake Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Mizoram remains one of the least beneficiaries of CSR funds. He stressed that CSR funding can significantly contribute to developmental projects, citing the construction of Serchhip Hospital—which received over ₹21 crore through CSR—as a successful example.
He attributed the state’s low CSR inflow to the limited number of registered CSR Implementing Agencies in Mizoram. To address this gap, the Chief Minister’s Office established a dedicated CSR Cell to help increase the number of registered agencies and guide them in mobilising CSR resources. Several initiatives have already been launched, including awareness programmes, a roadshow in Bangalore in partnership with UNDP, a talk show, and now, this capacity-building workshop in collaboration with the CII.
The Chief Minister urged participating NGOs to actively pursue registration as Implementing Agencies, stating that doing so would open doors to numerous CSR opportunities. “Your success will uplift society, generate employment for youth, and contribute to Mizoram’s development,” he remarked. He encouraged societies, NGOs, and hospitals to register and assured them that the CSR Cell would provide ongoing support.
Pu TBC Lalvenchhunga, Adviser to the Chief Minister and Chairman of the CSR Cell, also addressed the gathering. He reaffirmed the CSR Cell’s commitment to assisting NGOs and announced the development of a CSR Matchmaking Platform to connect donor companies with registered Implementing Agencies, aimed at improving project execution across the state.
The programme was chaired by Pu Lalmalsawma Pachuau, Secretary, Planning & Programme Implementation Department. Participants expressed their appreciation for the training, and Pu Lalrintluanga Jahau, Chairman of the CII Mizoram State Council, delivered the vote of thanks, marking the conclusion of the workshop.
