Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister Thiru K. Ponmudy Releases Engineering Admission Rank List for 2025–26

The rank list for engineering admissions under the academic year 2025, which began with the application process on May 7, 2025, was officially released today (27.06.2025) by the Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education, Thiru K. Ponmudy at the Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai.

Key Highlights from the Minister’s Statement:

  • Total applications received for engineering admissions this year: 3,02,374
  • Applicants who paid the registration fee: 2,50,298 — this is 40,645 (19.4%) more than last year.
  • Rank list issued for: 2,41,641 applicants — an increase of 41,773 (20.9%) from the previous year.

Special Reservation Category Statistics:

  • Under the 7.5% government school student quota, 51,004 students applied, and 47,372 students were assigned ranks, marking a 47% increase from the previous year.
  • Under the emigrant workers’ quota, 5,885 students applied, and 2,446 students were assigned ranks.
  • 1,361 ex-servicemen’s dependents and 473 differently-abled students were also assigned ranks.

High Scorers:

  • 144 students scored full marks (200/200), which is 79 more than last year.
  • Among these, 139 students studied under the Tamil Nadu State Board curriculum — an increase of 81 students from the previous year.
  • Only 5 students were from other boards.

Important Instructions for Students:

  • Students can check their rank numbers at www.tneaonline.org.
  • If any student’s name is missing or if there are errors in the rank list, they must visit their nearest Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions Facilitation Centre (TFC) and submit a grievance before July 2, 2025.
  • Government school students eligible under the 7.5% quota who are missing from the list must also report their issue to the nearest TFC before the July 2 deadline.

Help Desk:

  • Students with queries can contact the helpline at 1800-425-0110, which has already handled queries from 28,559 applicants.
  • Additional support was provided via email (tneacare@gmail.com) and walk-ins, assisting 8,037 students via email and 1,564 in person.

Counselling Schedule:

  • Special category counselling: July 7–11, 2025
  • General counselling: July 14–August 19, 2025
  • Supplementary counselling: August 21–23, 2025
