Howrah Division received the newly inaugurated Purulia–Howrah MEMU Special Train (via Masagram) at Howrah station

The inaugural run of the Purulia–Howrah MEMU Passenger Train via Masagram was successfully conducted on 28th June 2025, marking a major step forward in enhancing connectivity along the Masagram–Bankura rail line. The train departed from Purulia at 13:30 hrs and reached Howrah at 21:10 hrs as scheduled. This Inaugural Run of Purulia–Howrah MEMU Passenger Marks a Milestone in Masagram–Bankura Line Development

The inaugural service of the much awaited service was ceremoniously graced at the New Complex of Howrah Station, Platform No. 22, when the train arrived for the first time. ADRM / Administration, Mr. Udai Kumar Keshari, along with other senior officers, were present to receive the train. The event highlighted the importance of this new service in improving passenger mobility between the western districts of West Bengal and the metropolitan region of Kolkata.

The regular run of this MEMU service is scheduled to commence from 30th June 2025, with the following timetable:

From Purulia: Departure at 04:00 hrs, arrival at Howrah at 11:40 hrs (commencing from 01.07.2025)

From Howrah: Departure at 16:15 hrs, arrival at Purulia at 23:55 hrs (commencing from 30.06.2025).

The train will operate six days a week, with Fridays as non-running days ex-Howrah, and Saturdays as non-running days ex-Purulia.

This newly introduced MEMU service is a significant addition to the region’s rail network, promising to boost local connectivity, support regional development, and provide greater travel convenience for daily commuters and long-distance passengers alike.
