Mumbai : The Village Development Department is committed to raising the standard of living for every person in rural areas. Under the leadership of the Rural Development Minister, the department is successfully implementing various schemes from the Central and State Governments, including the Gramin Awas Yojana and the ‘Umed’ campaign for the economic upliftment of women. These initiatives are aimed at enhancing the quality of life in rural communities. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde highlighted the utility of the information booklet ‘Nirdhar Grameen Vikascha’ for all stakeholders while releasing it at Vidhan Bhavan.
Present at the event were Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Rural Development and Tourism Minister Girish Mahajan, Revenue Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, School Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar, Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, Public Works Minister Ravindra Chavan, Tribal Development Minister Dr. Vijayakumar Gavit, and Labor Minister Dr. Suresh Khade, along with Principal Secretary of the Rural Development Department, Eknath Dawle.
Chief Minister Shinde emphasized that both the Central and State Governments’ Housing Schemes and the State Rural Development Mission ‘Umed’ are being implemented to eradicate poverty among needy and poor women in rural areas, aiming to make them self-reliant. This program is driving economic empowerment for rural women, with more than 13 lakh women becoming ‘Lakhpati Didi’ in the state over the past year. Efforts are also being made to improve the communication systems in villages. Various schemes are being implemented through the Rural Development Department, and the booklet ‘Nirdhar Grameen Vikascha’ contains comprehensive information on these schemes, ensuring the information reaches everyone, said Chief Minister Shinde.
Government Ready for Comprehensive Development of Villages: Rural Development Minister Girish Mahajan
Rural Development Minister Mahajan stated that the contribution of the Rural Development Department is crucial for the state’s development. All schemes, including the Rural Housing Mahaavas Abhiyan and the Maharashtra State Rural Jeevanonnati Abhiyan, are being effectively implemented. To make every village prosperous, thousands of villages are being connected to main roads by improving the quality of village roads. Important decisions have been made for the economic empowerment of women through savings groups. The government is focused on implementing all schemes swiftly to improve the lives of villagers. The Village Development Department is working at all levels to ensure that villagers do not face any hardships during ‘Ashadhi Varim.’ Substantial funds are also being allocated under the Punyashlok Ahilya Devi Holkar Rural Pilgrimage Development Scheme. The booklet provides detailed information about the important decisions taken by the government for rural development in the last two years, said Minister Mahajan.
