Chief Minister M.K. Stalin Chairs Review Meeting on Law and Order
Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru M.K. Stalin, chaired a review meeting on the state’s law and order situation today (30.06.2025) at the Secretariat in Chennai.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police, senior police officers from central, southern, and western zones, and other top officials. A comprehensive review was conducted on the state’s law and order, and a live demonstration of the Crime Analytics system was presented.
During the meeting, the Hon’ble Chief Minister examined the crime statistics and the swift legal actions taken against offenders, as well as the status of pending cases in courts. He also reviewed the measures adopted in various zones to prevent crimes and appreciated new efforts by zonal police officers to curb criminal activities.
CM Stalin remarked that ever since the Dravidian Model Government assumed office, law and order in Tamil Nadu has significantly improved. He attributed the state’s growing industrial investments, increasing business activities, and rise in job opportunities to the peaceful environment ensured by effective policing. He emphasized that the contribution of the police force is vital in maintaining Tamil Nadu’s image as a peaceful and safe state for all communities.
He instructed the police department to treat complaints received at police stations with respect and empathy and to take prompt and appropriate action within the stipulated time.
Further, the Chief Minister directed that stringent action be taken against organized crime groups involved in the smuggling of contraband or illicit liquor and against those disturbing public peace. He also called for strong steps to curb the circulation and use of narcotic substances.
He stressed that in times of serious law and order issues, senior police officials must proactively engage with the media to provide accurate information and dispel rumours, thereby reinforcing public trust in the police force.
The CM also instructed the police to closely monitor areas prone to communal or caste-related conflicts and to take preventive steps against potential threats. He emphasized giving importance to cases involving political motives, protestors, and incidents that could disrupt public order, and to handle such cases with heightened attention.
He ordered enhanced use of CCTV surveillance in public places and encouraged leveraging community participation in crime prevention efforts. He further directed the police to act with full autonomy and authority in maintaining law and order while upholding justice.
