President offers prayers at Gorakhnath Temple

CM Yogi Adityanath leads grand reception for President at Gorakhnath Temple

President greets devotees and delights children with chocolates

Gorakhpur : President Droupadi Murmu visited the Gorakhnath Temple on Monday evening and offered prayers to Guru Gorakhnath. Gorakshpeethadheeshwar and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath led the grand reception for the President. Accompanying the President were Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel.

After performing rituals at the temple, President Droupadi Murmu partook in a traditional meal hosted by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. During her visit, she warmly greeted a large gathering of devotees within the temple premises, acknowledging their salutations with folded hands and gracious smiles. In a touching gesture that won many hearts, the President personally handed chocolates to children present among the devotees. She is scheduled to visit the Gorakhnath Temple again on Tuesday afternoon.

Following the convocation ceremony at AIIMS Gorakhpur, President Murmu first proceeded to the Circuit House and then visited the Gorakhnath Temple. Upon entering the temple premises, she was welcomed with grandeur by Chief Minister and Gorakshpeethadheeshwar Yogi Adityanath. From the main entrance to Singh Dwar, she arrived in a golf cart and walked the remaining stretch to the sanctum sanctorum. Along the way, she was greeted by the chief priest of the temple, Yogi Kamalnath, Mahant Yogi Mithileshnath of Devipatan Temple, and other saints. Students of Vedic studies welcomed her with the chanting of sacred mantras.

Amid the resonating chants of Vedic hymns, the Hon’ble President arrived at the sanctum sanctorum and paid her respects to the idol of Guru Gorakhnath. The rituals were performed in accordance with tradition by the scholars of Guru Gorakshnath Sanskrit Vidyapeeth. After the darshan and puja, the President visited the residence of the Peethadheeshwar on the temple premises, where Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath introduced her to distinguished guests. The Peethadheeshwar also briefed the President on the history and significance of the temple and the Nath sect. Following the meal, the President left for her overnight stay at the Circuit House.
