AAP Slams BJP Over Delhi Police’s Alleged Obstruction of Punjab Police Raids in Drug Money Case

New Delhi : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing its Delhi Police of preventing crucial raids by the Punjab Police in connection with a high-profile drug money case. Senior AAP leaders, including Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj and Leader of Opposition Atishi, questioned whether the BJP had struck a deal with accused former Punjab minister Vikram Majithia, shielding him from justice.

At a press conference held at the AAP headquarters on Tuesday, Bharadwaj alleged that since morning, the Punjab Police and Vigilance Department had been attempting to carry out raids at two key locations in Delhi as part of their ongoing investigation. However, he claimed, the Delhi Police—under the direct control of the BJP-led central government—was deliberately obstructing the operation.

“This raises a serious question—has the BJP entered into a deal with Vikram Majithia, a key accused in the drug money case?” Bharadwaj asked. “Why else would the Delhi Police refuse to cooperate with the Punjab Police, who are working tirelessly under the leadership of CM Bhagwant Mann to dismantle the drug mafia in Punjab?”

He explained that Majithia had long been linked to Punjab’s drug trade and was recently arrested by Punjab’s Vigilance Department in connection with a related case. In pursuit of this investigation, teams were deployed to multiple states, including Delhi, to conduct raids. However, their attempts to act in the national capital were allegedly being blocked.

“This deliberate interference seems designed to give the accused time to destroy evidence or flee,” Bharadwaj said. He also issued a direct appeal to the Central Government, stating: “Drug abuse is destroying our youth and future generations. This is not an issue to be politicized. The Centre must rise above politics and support state-level law enforcement.”

In a post on social media platform X, Bharadwaj reiterated his concerns:
“Since morning, Punjab Police has been present in Delhi at two crucial locations for raids in the drug money case. But Delhi Police, controlled by the BJP government, is not allowing the raids to happen. Has the BJP made a deal with accused Vikram Majithia?”

Echoing the sentiment, AAP senior leader and Leader of Opposition Atishi also took to X, stating:
“Is there a secret deal between the BJP and Vikram Majithia? Now the BJP is shielding him from the drug money case, and in return, Majithia may join the BJP. Why is the BJP protecting a key accused?”

The incident has sparked a political firestorm, with AAP accusing the BJP of actively undermining a critical investigation into one of the most pressing public health and security issues—the drug trade in India. The BJP has yet to issue an official response to these allegations.
