Training Conducted for Passion Fruit Growers in Champhai

Champhai : The District Horticulture Office, Champhai, today organized a training program for 80 (eighty) passion fruit growers at the DHO Training Hall.

The participants were farmers selected under the AES of Passion Fruit (Special Intervention) program, implemented as part of MIDH 2024–2025. A majority of the trainees—46 (forty-six)—were from the southern region.

The training was inaugurated by ADHO Pi Lalrinmawii, and DHO Pi Lalrinchhani served as the resource person. The training covered comprehensive techniques in passion fruit cultivation—from planting methods, proper maintenance, and harvesting practices, to post-harvest management. Farmers were also taught how to identify and prevent pests and diseases affecting passion fruit.

The resource person emphasized the importance of utilizing government-provided support under the MIDH Special Intervention effectively and encouraged the farmers to take full advantage of the scheme for better results. She urged the participants to adopt improved farming practices and innovative approaches to enhance productivity and economic viability in Champhai District.

The training concluded with an interactive Q&A session. The participating farmers expressed satisfaction and appreciation for the knowledge gained. A follow-up training session for 70 (seventy) farmers is also scheduled to be held at Samthang tomorrow.
