Grand Inauguration of the First Edition of National Camel Race Championship 2025 in Presence of Rajasthan Water Resources Minister
Jaipur – In a historic move to give national recognition to Rajasthan’s rich folk traditions and rural sporting heritage, the first edition of the National Camel Race Championship 2025 was inaugurated with grandeur and dignity on Sunday at Pushkar Ground. The event was graced by Rajasthan’s Water Resources Minister and Pushkar MLA, Shri Suresh Singh Rawat, as the chief guest, who delivered an inspiring address and hailed the championship as a milestone in preserving Rajasthan’s cultural identity.
The unique event witnessed 50 participants, both men and women, from eight states across the country, who came together to celebrate and uphold the legacy of camel racing, a traditional folk sport. The championship was jointly organized under the aegis of the Camelids Sports India Federation and the Rajasthan Camel Race Association.
In his address, Minister Rawat emphasized that traditional sports like camel racing not only keep Rajasthan’s cultural heritage alive, but also create new avenues for employment and tourism in rural areas. He expressed confidence that this event will, in the coming years, enhance Rajasthan’s global identity.
He further assured that the government will extend all possible support for the preservation and promotion of traditional sports, ensuring that these legacies are passed on to future generations. The event also lays the groundwork for upcoming editions of the world-famous Pushkar Camel Fair, known for its vibrant display of folk dance, music, camel beauty contests, handicrafts, and rural traditions.
This first-ever national-level camel race championship held in Rajasthan is not just a celebration of sportsmanship but also a significant step toward reviving and honoring the state’s traditional culture. The resounding success of the event highlights that with government support and active involvement of public representatives, a revival of traditional sports is indeed possible.
