Life-Saving Equipment and Solar Lights Distributed in Siaha Under NEC Special Development Project
DC Siaha hands over ambulance, pickup vehicle, and nine solar lights to benefit healthcare and rural communities
Siaha : A handing-over ceremony for essential equipment funded under the North Eastern Council (NEC) Special Development Project was held today at 11:00 AM in the DC Office Chamber, Siaha. The items distributed included one life support ambulance, one 4WD pickup vehicle, and nine solar lights.

The event was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Pu VL Hruaizela Khiangte, who officially handed over the equipment. Speaking at the ceremony, he expressed gratitude for the support from the NEC and stated that these resources would greatly benefit not only the health sector but also the general public. He acknowledged the collective efforts of all officials involved in ensuring the project’s successful implementation.
Pu M. Misael, Project Director of DRDO Siaha, presented a technical report, while Pu L. Beimopha, IRS, led the implementation under NEC’s initiative for the Backward Community of the Mara tribe in Tipa RD Block, Siaha District. The nine solar lights were specifically installed for rural sub-centres across different villages. The total cost of the project was ₹32,22,486.
During the ceremony, DC Khiangte handed over the ambulance and solar lights to Dr Lalnunziri, Senior Chief Medical Officer, and Dr C Lalrosanga, District Medical Superintendent of Siaha District Hospital. Dr Lalnunziri, in her vote of thanks, appreciated the District Administration’s support and noted that the equipment provided will be effectively utilized to strengthen health services in the district.
This initiative marks a significant step in improving healthcare accessibility and rural infrastructure in Siaha, particularly for underserved communities.
