Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Flags Off 20 New Air-Conditioned UTC Mini Buses
Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday flagged off 20 new air-conditioned UTC Mini (Tempo Traveller) vehicles operated by the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) at a ceremony held at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office.
Of these, 10 Tempo Traveller vehicles will operate on the Dehradun–Mussoorie route and 10 on the Haldwani–Nainital route. This initiative is expected to help reduce traffic congestion on both these routes. The Chief Minister stated that if the initiative proves successful, the number of such services will be further increased.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also travelled in a Tempo Traveller from the Camp Office to the GTC Helipad. He noted that these air-conditioned Tempo Travellers will play a significant role in strengthening the state’s transport system, providing passengers with safe, convenient, and affordable travel options. The service is also expected to boost the state’s economy and tourism.
He emphasized the government’s ongoing efforts to connect every region of the state with a robust road network and reliable transport services. Today, through services like digital ticketing, online booking, and tracking systems, the transport department is offering convenient travel experiences to the public.
The Chief Minister added that continuous efforts are being made to strengthen the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation. As a result, the Corporation has been operating profitably for the past three consecutive years. He also announced that electric buses will soon be added to the UTC fleet, with the procurement process already underway.
The government has also resolved several issues faced by employees and drivers/conductors, such as increasing the dearness allowance (DA), implementing the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, and expanding human resources through recruitment in the Corporation—all carried out with full commitment to employee welfare.
Present at the event were Cabinet Minister Shri Ganesh Joshi, Rajya Sabha MP Shri Naresh Bansal, Principal Secretary and Chairman of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation Shri L. Fanai, UTC MD Smt. Reena Joshi, and officials from the transport department.
