Strict Action Against Those Responsible in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Juvenile Home Case – CM Devendra Fadnavis
Mumbai : The atrocities committed against minor girls at the Vidyadeep Juvenile Home in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar are extremely serious, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the Legislative Council. He described the reported incidents as “horrific” and assured the House that strict action will be taken against the culprits, including the immediate suspension of the District Women and Child Development Officer.
The issue was raised in the House through a short-notice question by MLC Smt. Chitra Wagh and Leader of Opposition Ambadas Danve.
CM Fadnavis informed that a committee of three senior women police inspectors has been constituted to investigate the matter. The committee has spoken to 80 girls so far. Although hesitant at first, the girls eventually shared serious details about the abuse. A criminal case has since been registered, and further action is being taken against other responsible individuals.
The Chief Minister stated that the license of the concerned institution will be revoked. The final report of the investigating committee is expected soon, after which strict action will be taken against every guilty person.
He added that the High Court has also taken cognizance of the case and appointed a special observer. Alongside the court’s actions, the state government is conducting its own independent investigation, and anyone found guilty—directly or indirectly—will be punished. “No one will be shielded,” CM Fadnavis assured.
Assault on Canteen Staff by MLA Is Unacceptable – CM Fadnavis
Mumbai, July 9:
Referring to a recent incident in which an MLA allegedly assaulted a canteen worker at the MLA residence, CM Devendra Fadnavis told the Legislative Council that while complaints about cleanliness, spoiled food, or foul smell should be addressed formally, violence against staff is completely unacceptable.
A video of the assault had gone viral on social media, prompting MLC Adv. Anil Parab to raise the issue through a special mention in the Council.
CM Fadnavis responded, saying that such behavior does not befit any elected representative and tarnishes the image of the legislature and the office of the MLA.
He also suggested that the Chair of the House take note of the incident for appropriate action.
