TN Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin Launches ‘Aadugalam’ App to Empower Young Athletes and Ensure Grassroots Sports Development
Karur : Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Udhayanidhi Stalin emphasized the importance of enhancing sports development through digital technology while addressing a departmental review meeting today at the Karur District Collectorate Conference Hall. During the session, he launched the “Aadugalam” mobile application, aimed at helping young athletes—both boys and girls—access updates and information related to the Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority’s programs.
Highlighting the app’s potential, the Deputy CM said that it would help athletes stay informed, enable efficient utilization of government schemes, and serve as a user-friendly tool to popularize sports initiatives. He stressed that sports equipment distributed to rural youth under government schemes must be monitored for actual usage and benefit. He requested field officers to submit feedback and conduct thorough reviews to ensure accountability.
Mr. Stalin also instructed the reactivation of non-functional women’s self-help groups (SHGs) and the formation of new ones. He emphasized timely redressal of public grievances, especially those brought directly to the Chief Minister’s grievance redressal cell. District officials were urged to respond promptly and transparently.
Further, he directed that eligible elderly citizens receive old-age pensions without delay and that economically weaker families from marginalized communities should be provided concrete houses under the Kalaignar Housing Scheme. Referring to grievance redressal camps scheduled to begin on July 15, he said that all complaints must be resolved within 45 days, and those that cannot be addressed must be clearly explained to the applicants.
Reviewing the Kalaignar Women’s Rights Scheme, Mr. Stalin noted that out of 1.60 crore applications, only 1.15 crore women received the monthly ₹1,000 support. He called for a re-examination of the remaining applications to ensure that all deserving beneficiaries are included.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to grassroots service, he reminded officials that field inspections and outreach must be continuous and consistent. He urged all government employees to act as strong bridges between the people and the government, upholding the ideals of the Dravidian Model of governance and honoring the vision of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
Among the attendees were MP Ms. S. Jothimani, MLAs Mr. R. Elango, Mr. R. Inbanathan, and Ms. K. Shobha Sundari, Additional Secretary for Project Implementation Mr. K. Udhaya, IAS, District Collector Mr. M. Thangavel, IAS, Mayor Ms. K. Kavitha, Deputy Mayor Mr. P. Pranesh, and senior officials from various departments.
