“Arunachal Cabinet Greenlights Anti-Cheat Exam Act and Staff Reforms”
Itanagar : In a major stride towards ensuring transparent and fair recruitment processes, the Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, has approved the enactment of “The Arunachal Pradesh Examination (Measures for Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Act 2024.” Additionally, the Cabinet has endorsed the encadrement of 13 categories of posts under the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB) into the common cadre of Arunachal Pradesh Civil Service and Arunachal Pradesh Secretariat Service.
The newly approved act aims to prevent and curb malpractices in recruitment examinations by introducing stringent penalties, including imprisonment and fines up to Rs 1 crore. The draft bill will be presented in the upcoming session of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly for further discussion and approval.
In another significant decision, the Cabinet approved the integration of APSSB posts into a common cadre, which will facilitate systematic human resource management. This change will allow officers from the Arunachal Pradesh Civil Service (APCS) and Arunachal Pradesh Secretariat Service (APSS) to be transferred to the APSSB on a three-year tenure basis.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister and Cabinet ministers were also briefed on the implementation strategy for three new criminal laws aimed at enhancing public safety and streamlining legal procedures.
These initiatives are expected to bring greater transparency and accountability to the recruitment process in Arunachal Pradesh, marking a significant step forward for the state’s governance and public administration.
