Major Crackdown on Illegal Domestic Gas Cylinders by Food Department: 1,619 Cylinders Seized
Raipur : Acting on the directives of Balodabazar Collector Deepak Soni, the Food Department has launched an extensive operation to crack down on the illegal storage and sale of domestic gas cylinders in the district. On Thursday, the department’s team conducted surprise inspections at various establishments and seized a total of 1,619 domestic LPG cylinders—including 41 filled and 1,578 empty cylinders.
District Food Officer Puneet Verma stated that repeated complaints were being received regarding the hoarding and overpricing of domestic LPG cylinders. In response, a special investigation drive was carried out at the district headquarters. During the raid at Heera Sales (Heera Kitchen), officials confiscated 2 filled cylinders, 3 empty cylinders, 19 consumer gas cards, 4 subscription vouchers, and 20 pressure gas regulators—all found stored illegally.
Furthermore, Bamleshwari Gas Agency in Balodabazar, which had been facing regular complaints from consumers about delayed delivery and unavailability of cylinders, was also inspected. Upon finding irregularities, authorities seized 39 filled cylinders and 1,575 empty cylinders from the agency. Action has been initiated under the provisions of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order, 2000.
