National Recognition for Rajasthan in Swachh Survekshan 2024 – President Honours Dungarpur as ‘Super Swachh League City’, Jaipur Greater Receives State Ministerial Award

President Smt. Droupadi Murmu conferred the ‘Super Swachh League City’ National Award to Rajasthan’s tribal-majority Dungarpur district for its exceptional performance in sanitation under Swachh Survekshan 2024. In the same ceremony, Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation received the ‘Promising Swachh City’ award for outstanding sanitation initiatives at the state level.

The awards were presented on Thursday at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, where Rajasthan’s Minister of Urban Development & Local Self Government (Independent Charge), Shri Jhabar Singh Kharra, accepted the honors on behalf of the state. The Chairman of Dungarpur Municipal Council, Shri Amrit Kalasua, and the Commissioner were also present.

Dungarpur Earns National Spotlight

Shri Kharra highlighted that Dungarpur’s repeated national recognition in the sanitation sector underscores its position as Rajasthan’s leading city in cleanliness. He credited the achievement to the dedicated personnel of the Municipal Council and the conscious citizens of Dungarpur. Notably, Dungarpur remains the only city in Rajasthan to be included among India’s 15 ‘Super Swachh League Cities’ this year.

Jaipur Greater Shines with ‘Promising Swachh City’ Award

Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation received the ‘Promising Swachh City’ Award from the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for its commendable efforts at the state level. The award was accepted by Mayor Mrs. Soumya Gurjar, who expressed pride in the corporation’s improved performance. Jaipur Greater not only secured 16th rank nationally but also earned the Water Plus Certification for the first time — a milestone that is expected to boost its rankings in upcoming surveys.

A Moment of Pride for Rajasthan

Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma congratulated the awardees and described the honors as a matter of pride for the entire state. He emphasized Rajasthan’s leadership in the field of sanitation and expressed confidence that cities across the state would continue working hard to improve their rankings. He acknowledged the collective efforts of urban local bodies, administrators, and the public in achieving this success.

Introduction of ‘Super Swachh League’ Category

The 2024 Swachh Survekshan introduced a new ‘Super Swachh League (SSL)’ category. It includes cities that have ranked in the top three at least once in the past three years and continue to be among the top 20 in their population category. Under this new category, Dungarpur was awarded in the 20,000 to 50,000 population bracket.

The award ceremony was graced by Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Manohar Lal, Minister of State Shri Tokhan Sahu, and Secretary Shri Srinivas Katikithala.
