Agriculture Minister Inaugurates Value Addition & Food Processing Training Under Movcd-Ner Phase IV For Organic Farmer Producer Companies
Aizawl : A two-day Value Addition & Food Processing Training program under Phase IV of the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for the North East Region (MOVCD-NER), organized by Clover Organic, was inaugurated today at the Clover Organic Pvt. Ltd. office, Chanmari, Ramhlun Road, by Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Minister, Pu PC Vanlalruata. The session was chaired by Pi PC Lalngaihsaki, Assistant Project Officer of Clover Organic Pvt. Ltd., and was attended by Pi H. Zodinpuii, State Coordinator, Mission Organic Mizoram.
Minister Pu PC Vanlalruata expressed appreciation for Clover Organic Pvt. Ltd.’s efforts in organizing the training, which aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of organic farmers and CEOs of various District-level Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs). He emphasized the importance of equipping the CEOs with the necessary expertise to help farmers improve productivity, innovate, and market their produce effectively.
The Minister also highlighted the significance of implementing proper Post-Harvest Management practices to ensure sustainability and value creation for agricultural produce. He stressed the importance of training farmers in quality handling, processing, and marketing to increase income and reduce waste. He also pointed out the need to strengthen market linkages to ensure fair pricing and broader reach for organic products.
Pi H. Zodinpuii, State Coordinator for Mission Organic Mizoram, stated that organic products like Mizoram’s Sapthei (Passion Fruit) juice are gaining popularity even in other states. She encouraged district FPC CEOs to promote Mizoram-grown fruits and vegetables beyond the state and to develop new products to boost sales and visibility.
During the training session organized by Clover Organic Pvt. Ltd., Pi Vanlalramchhani Chhangte from SAMETI (Post Harvesting Technology) conducted sessions on value addition techniques. Training included hands-on learning on making juices, pickles, candies, and powders from local produce such as Sapthei, Lakhuihthei, Serthlum, Aieng, and Sawhthing (ginger).
