Common Man in Gadchiroli Prospers Due to Industry – Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis
Gadchiroli : The under-construction Surjagad steel plant will produce 8 million tonnes, and the Lloyds project will produce 4 million tonnes of steel. Once these projects operate at full capacity, 30 percent of Maharashtra’s steel production will come from Gadchiroli alone. This will create significant opportunities for industry and employment, transforming the lives of common people who have been left behind due to Maoism, asserted Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today.
The Bhoomipujan of the Surjagad Ispat Steel Project was performed by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at Wadalapeth, Aheri. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Industry Minister Uday Samant, Food and Drug Administration Minister Dr. Dharmaraobaba Atram, Principal Secretary of the Industries Department Harshdeep Kamble, Special Inspector General of Police Sandeep Patil, Collector Sanjay Daine, District Superintendent of Police Nilotpal, Lloyds Metal Head Prabhakaran, and Surjagad Ispat Company Head Sunil Joshi were present.
Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis further mentioned that 80 percent of employment in the new industries in Gadchiroli district will be provided to locals, benefiting the community significantly. He assured that the industries are being established without compromising the district’s water, land, and forest resources and that no excavation will occur near Thakur Deva, the tribal deity. He also announced a 35,000 crore investment in Chamorshi, expected to create 20,000 jobs.
Gadchiroli district is also seeing progress in airport and railway projects, and an education hub is being developed. The local medical college has been approved, and an innovation center worth 170 crores is being established. The government has decided to provide a 100 percent fee discount for girls and a 50 percent discount for boys pursuing higher and technical education. Gadchiroli’s industries will be connected to Mumbai via the Samriddhi Highway. A study committee has been appointed to explore waterways for cargo transportation from Charmoshi to Kakinada port. Fadnavis dedicated this progress to the common people of the state on the occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi.
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar emphasized that the mineral wealth in Gadchiroli district will bring economic prosperity to the tribal community. He urged citizens to take advantage of the substantial investments coming to the district. The state government is also working to empower farmers with schemes such as electricity bill waivers, paddy bonuses, quality education, and health insurance up to five lakh rupees. He expressed hope that Gadchiroli will become a development center in Maharashtra.
Industry Minister Uday Samant stated that the Bhoomi Pujan event exemplifies the implementation of the Davos Agreement. Another 35,000 crore project is planned for the area. He noted that Gadchiroli is poised to be named Udyog Nagari (Industrial City) as major companies are eager to start industries there. Under the recently held District Investment Council, industries worth 5,000 crores will be established in the Nagpur division, with projects worth 1.5 lakh crores expected in Gadchiroli district in the next one to two months.
Dr. Dharmaraobaba Atram expressed his commitment to revolutionizing the Aheri assembly constituency through education, irrigation, and employment generation. The 10,000 crore project is set to create over 7,000 direct and indirect jobs, with completion planned by 2030. During the event, appointment letters were given to 16 security guards hired by the company, and an ambulance and school books were distributed to students by the steel plant. The program was attended by industry dignitaries, officials, and local citizens.
